5 days Uganda primate safari takes you to Semuliki and Kibale National Park to explore Uganda’s diverse species of primates. Uganda is known to be a host to a huge profusion of primate species. This tour package offers you exactly that opportunity to indulge yourself into its jungles to look out for these interesting creatures. You will visit Semuliki National Park for primate walk. This park is not only popular for its diverse primates but also a home to one of the world’s powerful hot springs ‘Sempaya’ and over 441 bird species.
The 5 days Uganda primate safari also includes chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park. Popularly known as the primate capital of the world, Kibale has diversity of primates. They include over 1500 chimpanzees plus other countless monkey species such as L’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys. On this trip, you also a chance to visit Bigodi wetland for bird watching on a guided nature walk. Your trip to Semuliki and Kibale begins and ends in Kampala/Entebbe.
Day 1: Transfer to Semuliki National Park via Fort Portal Tourism City
Breakfast early morning and after, transfer to Semuliki National Park. From Kampala via Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal city, about 5-6 hours’ drive. Lunch en-route in a hotel in Fort Portal and after, go enjoy a guided walk in the Crater Lakes as well as explore the Amabere Ga Nnyinamwiru caves. Continue to Semuliki a home to 441 bird species, 53 mammal species including several primates. Check into Semuliki Safari Lodge, Ntoroko Game Lodge or Kirimia Guesthouse/Semuliki park bandas & campsites for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Primate walk and visit to Sempaya hot springs
After breakfast early in the morning, meet your guide for briefing. Later, go enjoy your primate walk along the Red monkey trail which is 11kms. This trail takes you through the park boundary in the east and leads up to Semliki River and shelters a huge concentration of deBrazza’s monkeys. Retreat from the primate walk for lunch and later, go visit Sempaya hot springs along The Sempaya trail. The Sempaya trail comes with some of the primates including grey cheeked mangabeys, red tailed monkeys, the black and white colobus monkeys.
At the Sempaya hot springs, you will perform some experience-boil an egg or have some bananas boiled and within minutes they will be ready for consumption. Get back to Semuliki Safari, Ntoroko Game Lodge or Kirimia Guesthouse/Semuliki park bandas & campsites for relaxation, dinner and overnight stay
Day 3: Game drive & drive to Kibale Forest National Park Kabarole district
Have breakfast and after, go enjoy a game drive to catch up with early morning risers in the wild. Expect to see leopards, antelopes, birds, warthogs, buffaloes. Get back to the lodge, have lunch and check out. Drive to Kibale National Park to check in at Ndali Lodge, Papaya Lake Lodge, Primate Lodge or Chimpanzee Guesthouse for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee tracking Kibale Forest & Bigodi wetland for guided nature walks
After breakfast, get to Kanyanchu Tourist Centre for briefing on chimpanzee tracking dos and don’ts. By 8:00am, chimpanzee trek begins and lasts for 2-4 hours which includes 1 hour with chimpanzees, photography. Kibale being a home to diverse species of primates, expect to see more than chimpanzees. You other varied primates to sight, birds and floral species.
Get back after your magical hour with chimpanzees to have lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, leave the lodge for Bigodi wetland walk to enjoy bird sighting, primates plus other mammals.
