Day 1: Drive from Kampala to the Sipi falls Area

After an amazing breakfast at your Hotel or any other place of residence, embark on the 5-6 hours’ drive to Eastern Uganda, the home to the spectacular Sipi falls. This drive is characterized by the breathtaking views of the large sugar plantations, Rivers, wetlands, the lush Mabira Forest, en-route Towns, the countryside, roadside markets and rice fields among others.

On reaching the Sipi waterfalls area, have Lunch and start the adrenaline-packed hike to the three stunning falls and through this hike, be rewarded with the panoramic views of the coffee plantations, verdant rolling hills. Interact with the locals and learn about how coffee is processed. Retire to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Mount Elgon Hike and Cultural encounters

The day will start with a heavy breakfast and transfer to Kapkwai Forest Exploration Center within Mount Elgon National Park, to hike to the stunning peaks of the extinct shied Volcano towering to 4321 meters above sea level. This hike will introduce you to some of the waterfalls, Caves, wildlife (buffaloes, bushbucks and elephants) and feathered beauties that call the Park home. After the hike, return to the Lodge for Lunch.

In the afternoon you will have a guided walk to the Sipi falls Widows Group, on the slopes of Mount Elgon. Your visit to this community group will take you through the process of Arabica coffee growing, picking, washing, storage, grinding, and packing before you even enjoy a hot cup of coffee. Additionally, you will learn about Sabiny and Bagisu traditions such as public circumcision (known as Imbalu) to initiate boys into manhood, traditional weaving, preparation and tasting of traditional dishes among others.

Day 3: Transfer to the spectacular Kidepo Valley National Park

Have breakfast by 6:00am and embark on a transfer to the magnificent Kidepo Valley National Park, while relishing the alluring North-eastern landscapes such as vast unspoiled savannah plains, the mind-blowing Mount Moroto, Valleys and Karamojong Manyatta (homesteads made of huts and fenced by thorns and branches). Kidepo valley National Park is Uganda’s most beautiful National Park with over 1442 square kilometers of boundless savannah plains, Rock kopjes, Valleys, Mountains and Rivers. The Park also shelters the rarest wildlife species such as serval cats, caracals, cheetahs, Ostriches, African golden cats and many others.

Day 4: Morning game drive and Karamojong Cultural experience

Hop into your safari vehicle for the photographic game drive after a delicious breakfast. The drive will be conducted through the key wildlife hot spots such as Narus Valley where animals such as cheetahs, lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, Uganda Kobs, zebras, Impalas, Reedbucks, Rothschild giraffes and warthogs converge to drink water. While on the drive, you will come across the Park’s outstanding bird species such as Ostriches, Clapperton’s francolins and many others.

Return for Lunch and in the afternoon undertake a guided cultural walk through the nearby Karamojong communities. Walk through their Manyatta (traditional enclosed homesteads surrounded by sharp thorns) to learn about their livestock lifestyle. Be amazed by their traditional jewelry-copper bangles and cow-horn rings, gourd for drinks, car tire sandals and traditional stools among others. Be driven to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Drive from Kidepo to Murchison falls National Park

On this day you will be leaving Kidepo Valley National Park for the popular Murchison falls National Park in north-western Uganda. The drive is about 6 hours and involves en-route Lunch and arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Travel time: 6-7 hours.

Day 6: Morning game drive, boat cruise and hike to the top of the falls

At 6:00am have breakfast and thirty minutes’ later start the game drive through the sweeping savannah plains, spotted with Rothschild giraffes, Oribis, elephants, buffaloes, lions, Uganda Kobs, Bushbucks, leopards, spotted hyenas, warthogs, Jackson’s hartebeests and many others.

Enjoy Lunch and at 2pm embark on a Launch cruise to the bottom of the falls. This boat ride will introduce you to the wonders of River Nile such as Nile crocodiles, Hippos as well as at least 100 of the 450 species of birds in the Park. Look-out for the Malachite Kingfishers, pelicans, shoebill storks, giant kingfishers, saddle-billed storks, African jacana and many others. On reaching the bottom of the falls, you will start the hike to the top of the falls where you will watch large quantities of water pushing through a narrow gorge of 7 meters and falling 45 meters into the Devil’s Cauldron, creating a ferocious sound. Make sure to have your camera to capture the rainbow above the falls. Head back to the Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Chimpanzee tracking

Have breakfast and by 8:00am head for a chimpanzee trek through Kaniyo-Pabidi area, in Budongo forest. The entire trek is for 2-4 hours including the one hour with these chimpanzees but most interesting encounter other primates of the Forest such as black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, blue monkeys and vervet monkeys among others, butterflies and birds. Return to the Lodge for Lunch and in the evening head for a cultural tour that involves traditional performances or sport fishing.

Day 8: Drive to Kampala, en-route visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
