This tour will take you through Uganda’s exclusive wildlife, found in her conservation areas which among others include Murchison falls, the oldest and the largest! You will have a chance to encounter the endangered giant Mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable forest, the playful chimpanzees in Kibale, the tree climbing Lions in Ishasha , the Zebras, Elephants and Impala herds in lake Mburo. In all the national parks you will visit, birds will be around you!
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by the company staff and transfer to Lake Victoria View Guest House. Depending on the arrival time and how you are feeling, we can have optional bird watching at Entebbe, especially on the lush grounds of the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, where we’ll see both forest and lakeshore birds. Our first bird species could include Palm-nut Vulture, Great Blue Turaco, Eastern Gray Plantain-eater, African Pied Hornbill, Splendid Glossy Starling, the rare Orange weaver, Slender-billed, Golden Backed. Dinner (Half Board) and overnight at Lake Victoria View Guest House
After an early breakfast, proceed to Murchison falls with lunch en route in Masindi. Check in late afternoon at your lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight at Pakuba Safari lodge.
Day 3: Game drive and afternoon boat cruise in Murchison Falls.
After breakfast, you will head out for a game drive that will yield viewing Elephants, Cape buffalo, Rothschild’s giraffe, Uganda kobs, hartebeests and waterbucks etc. You may also spot oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, bush duiker, warthog and bush pig. Large carnivores include lion, leopard and spotted hyena. The park is rich with birds hence for a bird enthusiast, look out for woodland birds such as Abbysinian ground horn bill, Plovers, Lapwings, Starlings, etc. Return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, go for a boat safari upstream the calm Victoria Nile. En-route, awesome sight at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretches you may see elephant, waterbuck and Uganda Kob. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican, bee-eater, pied kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. The boat will stop just tens of metres from the sinister, frothing and bubbling base of the falls. Dinner and overnight at Pakuba safari Lodge
After breakfast, drive south via Hoima to Fort Portal through verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms with lunch en route. Fort-Portal rests in the shadow of the legendary Mountains of the Moon. Check in for relaxation or take an optional walk around the resort. Dinner and overnight at Nyi naburitwa County resort.
After breakfast, you will be briefed and enter the forest in search for chimpanzees and 10 other primates including L’Hoest’s, red colobus, blues, red tailed and grey – cheeked Mangabey monkeys. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates, but on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life like the most sought after bird here…The green breasted Pitta, look out for it and seeing primates at close ranges. Return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, have a birding excursion to the Bigodi wetland known for keen birders. The guided 4.5km circular trail through the swamp is also one of the best guided bird trails in East Africa. Dinner and overnight at Nyinaburitwa country Resort.
- Game drive and Evening cruise to Kazinga channel
After an early breakfast Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park following the mystical Ruwenzori Mountain range almost throughout the journey. A game drive en route will be done with views of Lions, Elephants, Leopards, Buffalos, Hyena and a variety of antelope species. Check in for lunch at Irungu Forest safari lodge. In the afternoonenjoy the unique 2 hour boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel and into Lake Edward. This trip passes through possibly the highest concentration of hippos and many animals may be seen drinking at the water’s edge. This launch cruise offers an excellent platform for photography, bird watching and game viewing. The prolific bird life is colorful and stupendous with well over 550 resident species! Dinner and overnight at Irungu Forest safari Lodge.
Early morning transfer to Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth national park. Game drives in Ishasha sector, home to the famous [tree-climbing lions] and the large herds of game such as Cape buffalo and African elephants plus Topis. The varied bird life will always be around you especially in the morning and evening hours. The scenic beauty, the size of the euphorbia and combination of riverine forest, Savannah plain and equatorial forest makes this a memorable day, only found in Uganda. You will have lunch en route and later proceed to Bwindi impenetrable forest. Dinner and over night at Gorilla Mist camp.
After break, go for briefing and make your entry into Gorilla sanctuary. This rainforest is spectacular. It offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense, but crossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Mammals recorded include the endangered mountain gorilla, rare golden monkey, buffalo, Forest elephant, black-fronted duiker, bushbuck, leopard, giant forest log and others. This park is best known for the fascinating gorillas. The time taken and the terrain varies according to the movements of this marvelous primates. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is a rare, moving, awesome and exciting adventure. The gorilla is a shy and peaceful animal and it is unforgettable experience to watch and photograph them as they interact. You will have packed lunch due to the nature of the activity. You may have an optional walk around the lodge in the evening or just relax after a long days trek. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Mist camp.
Transfer from Bwindi to and have an evening boat ride.
After an early breakfast, you will and drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Enjoy the boat ride on Lake Mburo and get quite close to crocs and hippos.
Birdwatchers will enjoy the more than 250 species of birds found in Lake Mburo including Papyrus Gonolek, Brown faced Lapwing, Carruther’s Cisticola, the extraordinary White winged Warbler and Bare-Faced-Go- Away bird. Dinner and overnight at Rwonyo Rest Camp
with stopover at the equator!
After breakfast, proceed for a game drive or a safari walk under the escort of an armed ranger. The park has particularly interesting and camouflaging kilpspringers, Impalas and Topis. Due to cattle herding in the area it is amusing to see zebra grazing alongside the long horned Ankore Cattle peacefully. Return for lunch in the noon and later check out as we proceed on an exciting road trip back to Kampala.
There will also be time to stop at the equator for photographs. You arrive in Kampala in the evening. Dinner and overnight at Maries Royale hotel Kampala
Day 11: Kampala to Source of the Nile on Lake Victoria in Jinja via Mabira for Birding.
After breakfast, drive east ward to Jinja through Mabira forest where stopover will be made for bird watching. Proceed to the source of the Nile. As you stand on the Nile, you will hear the gurgling water, watch native fishermen throw their nets in the longest river in Africa- You will take a Boat Ride to the actual source of the Nile and beyond the lake where you will take great pictures for future memories. Lunch in Jinja at the source of the Nile. Return to Kampala in the evening after a full day excursion. Dinner and overnight at Maries Royale Hotel Kampala.
Day 12: Have your flight back
After breakfast check out and transfer to Entebbe for departure back to your home.
